Rosa Márquez Romero, M.Sc., Pharm. Chem.
Rosa Márquez is the Coordinator of the LATITUD Foundation since 2017.
Rosa Márquez Romero received her degree as a Pharmaceutical Chemist from the University of the Republic (UdelaR) in 1997. She then obtained her Master’s Degree in Food Science and Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2000. She took a postgraduate’s course on Quality Management at DGQ-Qualitätsmanager/in in 1998, Project Management Methods at the University of the Republic in 2006 and the Management Development Program in 2007.
She has been published over 10 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, and more than 25 in international conference proceedings and one book chapter. She participated in more than 80 international scientific meetings.
Since 2004 she has been in charge of organizing and chairing the Scientific Committee of the INNOVA International Symposium on Food Innovation and Development. She was also a member of the Organizing Committee and the Scientific Committee of the 60th edition of the 2014 International Congress on Meat Science and Technology.
In 2006 she was appointed Uruguayan Delegate before the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), representing LATU. She coordinates the Uruguayan Regional Section of EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering Design Group) since 2014, also representing LATU, and she is a member of the Uruguayan Food Engineers Association.
2003 – 2016: Senior Investigator at the Research, Development and Innovation Department of the Uruguayan Technology Laboratory (LATU). As such, she oversees the formulation, development, coordination, execution and management of R&D&I on food-related topics.
2006 – 2007: As Senior Consultant of the Food Projects Department, Rosa is in charge of the Food Safety Management area of the Uruguayan Technology Laboratory (LATU).
2004 – 2006: Consultant of the Management Service Department at the Uruguayan Technology Laboratory (LATU). Design and implementation of quality management systems at several companies.
From 1998 to today: Internal auditor at several areas in LATU and external auditor for food manufacturers (dairy industry, prepared meals, beverages, meat and poultry products, etc.) and Government agencies.
1995 – 2003: Analyst, Curator of the Strains Bank and Quality Coordinator of the Microbiology Department of the Uruguayan Technology Laboratory (LATU).
1995: Internship at the Bromatology Chemistry Laboratory of the Municipality of Montevideo.
1994 – 1995: Honorary collaborator at the Food Science and Technology Department, School of Chemistry.
